It's a heavy football weekend in D-FW, with three big college football games around the area. How big? Well, they all get official titles, which automatically makes them Very Important Games. Here's a look.
Rob Clark
SMU (2-1) vs. TCU (3-0)
Saturday at 7 p.m. at Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth
Series: TCU leads, 42-39-7.
Matchup: The former Southwest Conference foes duke it out each year in the battle for the Iron Skillet. All coveted cookware aside, it'll be interesting to see if June Jones and the Mustangs can hang with the mighty Horned Frogs, who jumped to No. 11 in the AP poll this week after winning at Clemson. Then again, it was just four years ago that the Frogs upset Oklahoma one week, and fell to SMU the next.

Grambling State (2-2) vs. Prairie View A&M (1-1)
Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl
Series: Grambling has won 21 straight against the Panthers.
Matchup: It's been a one-sided series for quite a while, but maybe this will be Prairie View's year. The Panthers are coming off a tough 21-18 loss Sept. 12 at New Mexico State. Grambling was outmanned at Oklahoma State last Saturday, losing 56-6. A guaranteed highlight is the killer halftime show, featuring the schools' electrifying bands.

Texas A&M (3-0)
vs. Arkansas (1-2)
Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Cowboys Stadium
Series: Arkansas leads, 38-24-3.
Matchup: The second battle of former SWC rivals this weekend features two major programs aiming to return to their dominant ways. The Razorbacks have lost two in a row to tough SEC opponents (Georgia and Alabama). The Aggies have had a lighter schedule, beating New Mexico, Utah State and UAB. This is the first of a new annual series between the two schools. It's planned for the next 10 years (or longer) at Cowboys Stadium.
