How many clubs can you name that were around in 2005 and are still around today?

Exactly.
Given the lifespan of Kismet Lounge on Greenville Avenue, the owners might have been onto something when they chose its name. Not only has the club been operating for over four years (damn near 50 in people years), but they haven't downsized their hours or upsized their drink prices. They still only take one day of rest and offer champagne bottles for $100. And how many clubs do you know that have a customer appreciation night?
With its excellent customer service and ever-evolving drink menu, Kismet seems destined to be a Dallas staple for years to come. The scene: This is like stepping into a club you would see in a James Bond film. Exotic music is thumping. The lights are low to show off the twinkling star lights in the ceiling. The walls are distressed in that old-world sort of way. The seating is a mix of leather and velvet, and the tables are wooden. Perhaps it's the hookahs and the smoke looming around them that evoke a sense of mystery.
The vibe: The crowd is low-key. The cocktail servers are attentive but not overbearing. The bartender aims to please with custom concoctions. There's an equal mix of loungers and dancers. Guys, it's the kind of place where you can bring a date without worrying she'll get hit on by a sleazeball. Girls, you can bring your mom here and she won't be offended by the cocktail waitresses' attire. It's classy, but not snooty.
The music: No matter what night you show up, you'll hear some of your fave dance hits. The beats vary depending on whether it's Brazilian, Latin or international night. You might find yourself salsa dancing to "Fat Bottomed Girls."
What people are wearing: Mostly jeans. Guys are wearing them with polos or T-shirts and blazers. Girls are wearing them with flirty tops and heels. The beats are infectious and what starts as a toe tap or head bob can quickly turn into a tango. Pick shoes accordingly.
The smoke factor: There's a patio for cigarette-smoking. Hookah-smoking is permitted inside the lounge.
The drink: Sorry, vodka/Red Bull, there's a tasty caffeinated libation kicking your ass at this bar – the Turkish Coffee Martini. It's more milkshake than martini. The sweet and creamy blend is so smooth, it's hard not to chug. Not wanting to burn the midnight oil? The Pink in the Middle shot hints at coconut, vanilla, pineapple and passionfruit in the same tiny drink. The mojitos and margaritas are way above average.
Parking: There are plenty o' free spots along residential streets in this area of Greenville ... just keep your eyes peeled.
Seen and heard: A sizable group of over-enthusiastic dancers doing shots back-to-back for two hours. These people were pros. I would bet you see this same group any night you go.
The bottom line: The drinks, the playlist and the crowd are diverse. Find something here you won't find anywhere else.
