Earlier this week, the Internet world got a look at the preview trailer from an upcoming documentary about Dallas' ultimate country party band, Speedtrucker. What some folks might not realize is that the director behind the documentary is none other than the O's and Boys Named Sue member John Pedigo.

JASON JANIK/Special Contributor
Pedigo's been putting his film degree from Boston's Emerson College to good use of late, collecting footage of the members of Speedtrucker for an intimate film about the hard-drinking, harder-playing band and its fans.
"We are still getting interviews from the band and compiling old footage from shows and this and that, but these guys are as dysfunctional as they've always appeared," Pedigo (above) told us of the now broken-up group. "So getting a hold of them all and expecting them to sit still in a room for a little while is tough."
If he's right about the friction between members, he might have a documentary that's compelling to music lovers beyond the borders of North Texas. But Pedigo's not motivated by that prospect; he's just a longtime fan who's interested in Speedtrucker's rise and demise.
"They were great and relevant," Pedigo said. "They were something special. If you liked them, you loved them. If you didn't like them, then you loathed them. There was no in-between. Their fans are a testament to that."
Pedigo's at work on other video projects through his new Rose County Entertainment company. He's recently assembled some comedically talented local musicians to act in a cop-show parody called Cuffs. Read more from our Q&A with the musician and filmmaker Thursday at QuickDFW.com.
