The fair's music schedule on the Chevrolet Main Stage includes a dreamy former American Idol contender, a blockbuster R&B girl group, a Texas country queen and much more. All are free with fair admission. Here's a look at the highlights.
Jason Castro: As the fourth-place winner of
American Idol in 2008, the dreadlocked Rockwall native charmed female fans with his easygoing vibe and earnest vocal performances. He's continued his music career after the show, and released a single, "Let's Just Fall in Love Again," on Atlantic Records last month.
Details: Friday at 8:30 p.m.
En Vogue: One of the biggest musical acts of the '90s, the group responsible for the hits "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" and "Free Your Mind," is now enjoying a resurgence of sorts. Singer Dawn Robinson has returned to the lineup, and the group recently wowed the crowd at this year's BET Awards.
Details: Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.
Little Big Town: Country harmonies don't get much sweeter than in the tunes of this popular group. You may recall the feelgood 2006 hit "Boondocks," or a live cover of '80s fave "Life in a Northern Town," on which it collaborated with Sugarland and Jake Owen.
Details: Oct. 10 at 8:30 p.m.
Honor Society: We can hear the screams already. This new pop band is one of the first signed to the Jonas Brothers' new record label imprint, Jonas Records. Honor Society just released the debut album Fashionably Late.
Details: Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
Miranda Lambert: This Texas firecracker's empowerment-themed lyrics and traditional country arrangements have helped her gain respect in the music industry relatively quickly. She's only 25, but she's already released three hit albums and won a handful of awards.
