An exclusive interview with U2-loving Dunham & Miller

10:48 AM CDT on Thursday, October 8, 2009

GORDON KEITH | NEWSPAPER COLUMN

In anticipation of U2's concert on Monday at Cowboys Stadium, our own Gordon Keith was granted exclusive access to the two most famous U2 lovers in North Texas – George Dunham and Craig Miller of "The Ticket."

Gordon: After 30 years, why is U2 still your favorite band?

George: I like them because they have not stayed stagnant. I think they have changed with the times, constantly reinventing themselves.

Craig: I like them because they HAVE stayed stagnant and have NOT changed. They are the same four guys who have been on top for 30 years.

Gordon: When did you first hear U2?

George: I think it was spring of my junior year when I heard the album Boy. It was my friend's album, and I went out and got it, and then when War came out, I went out and –

Gordon: Your story is boring.

George: Your interview sucks.

Gordon: What is your favorite U2 album?

Craig: I hate to say this because it is everybody's favorite, but it's Joshua Tree. I think Bono's voice was at its best, and I think the writing was at its best.

George: To me it's still Boy.

Gordon: Did either of you lose your virginity while listening to U2?

George: That is none of your business.

Craig: I am still a virgin.

Gordon: Since Craig is still a virgin, let me ask you George, other than screams of horror, what were you listening to when you lost your virginity?

George: And THAT is none of your business.

Gordon: OK. In your opinion, which bass player in U2 is the least important band member?

Craig: (laughs)

George: That is the dumbest U2 question in the history of the band. Adam Clayton is a very –

Gordon: OK, Adam Clayton! We have your answer.

George: I hate you.

Gordon: How has U2 influenced your hatred for each other?

George: (laughs) I don't hate Craig, and if I did, I don't think U2 would have anything to do with it.

Gordon: On Monday night, you guys will be in the presence of greatness, something you're accustomed to since you work with Gordon Keith every day. How would you compare Gordon to U2, or da Vinci, or to some of the better apostles?

Craig: When you rank the human beings, da Vinci and the apostles are right near the top, and Gordon would be at the bottom after Ted Bundy and Al Roker.

Gordon: What about fan etiquette at the concert?

Craig: Well, I don't like it when people come up to me and say "Mr. Miller." I prefer "Mr. CRAIG Miller."

Gordon: Who will break up first, U2 or the Musers?

George: U2 will break up before the Musers. They're older.

Gordon: Finally, George, what is it about U2 that causes you to overeat?

George: You're a [expletive].

Gordon: Thank you for your time.

George, Craig and Gordon can all be heard on "The Ticket" KTCK-AM (1310) weekdays from 5:30 to 10 a.m. E-mail Gordon at gordon@gordonkeith.com
