Police say couple's slaying at southeast Dallas home was drug-related

A man and woman were killed during a drug-related shooting early Monday at their southeast Dallas home, police said.

700 block of Jonelle Avenue in Dallas

Dallas police responded to the couple's home in the 700 block of Jonelle Avenue shortly after midnight after the home's burglar alarm went off. About the same time, neighbors called 911 about shots being fired.

Officers found 30-year-old Sandra Williams dead inside the home. Samuel Woodson, 37, was found dead on the porch.

The door had been kicked in, and it appeared the man had come outside to confront the intruders, police said. Investigators were uncertain whether he did so before or after the woman was shot.

"We're just piecing together the scene at this time to determine what all happened," said homicide Sgt. Bruce McDonald.

Police said they found marijuana inside the home.

It was unclear whether the man had a weapon as he confronted the attackers.

"We don't know if he was armed and possibly they took the weapon, or if he was unarmed," McDonald said.
